We are open year round for "referred" material.
There are more details on our website but basically you can refer to any piece (writing/art/individual page etc) on our site and/or individual words within a piece.
We periodically open for new featured material that does not have to relate directly to anything on our site. Those dates are announced on our guidelines page and will be indicated here but a Featured submission link.
Shorter pieces are preferred but no length restrictions. Due to formatting for online reading we prefer poems and prose without significant indentations and special fonts etc.
Submit up to 3 poems in one document or 1 prose piece per packet. Up to 5 art pieces per packet.
If you have submitted or been published in Referential please wait 30 days between each new submission.
If you submitted please wait at least 60 days before inquiring about the status of your submission. Note we usually respond MUCH quicker than that, but give us some time!

General Submission
Size limit: 1500 (no max, definitely prefer short)
Referential reads year round for material that refers from our already publishing bits of writing, artwork and individual pages (you know someone wants to write a poem about the letter Q from our contributors page right?)Check out the guidelines on our main site to see how to refer.
Once you are ready to submit your work please list what you are referring to in the text box. Please also note what genre you are submitting in especially for prose work! Please include a short bio of 100 words or less along with a website link you would like attached to your name. We do need both of these!

Featured Submission
We are currently reading for a new featured piece. At this time we are only considering all genres of writing as well as art.
The reading period will last from 5-8-2012 until 6-8-2012.
In prose our preference is for shorter work. Anything over 3000 words may be a bit long for us! You can submit one piece or multiple pieces up to 3000 words.
For poetry please send 3-5 poems.
In the comment section please include a bio of 100 words or less along with a website you would want linked to your name.
We read year round for "referred" work so if that is what you are submitting please use the General category.
Even if your piece is not selected as a feature you may be offered publication. More details on that on a case by case basis.
